Ara militaris
Oaxaca, Mexico
Parrots International donations have supported the Military Macaw Project in Oaxaca Mexico.
The largest known population of Military Macaws (Ara militaris) live in Sabino Canyon, a narrow steep 750 foot deep canyon. Sabino Canyon is located in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains a two hour drive west of Oaxaca, Mexico.
Carlos Bonilla-Ruz has since expanded his work to the Military Macaw populations in coastal Puerto Vallarta.
